I picked up 2 xj steering shafts and installed one in my burb buts its about an inch to long. Now I know its a direct bolt on and some of you guys are running them but how did you get it to colapse to fit. Do I have to cut the sleeve off complety or cut about an inch off. Can you post pics of where you colapsed it from Thanks:confused:

I just pushed mine together and it collapsed on its own. It was tight so I smacked it with a hammer and then it moved fine.

What is the benefit of running an XJ shaft instead of the Chevy shaft?

I want to say it is 86-91. I got mine from a 86 in the junkyard.

If you look closely you will see some plastic pins that need to be drilled out then it will collapse easily. IIRC they are about 1/8" diameter pins.
