Buying a Blazer with the RPO sticker missing and then finding out later that the stock axles have 2.73 gears in it!!! [IMG] [IMG]

Yep, just found out today that my '84 K5 has the wussy 2.73 gears. [IMG] And the Blazer is now riding on 35" tires. [IMG] And yeah, go ahead and laugh it up, it's also powered by a 305!!! [IMG] [IMG]

At least I get pretty good fuel economy. [IMG] [IMG]

So the flintstones had it better just cut a hole in the floor board and run.

Bahaha, how can you stand it? Oh, wait my '81 has 2.73s. I had 32"s but got the tranny overhauled and knocked it back to stock size 'cause its now my temporary Blazer/Winter beater (its a POS).

hey if you're building a vehicle to break the world land speed record on the salt flats, you're half way there.

what kind of rpms is that beast turning at 60, 70, 80mph?

Put a big block in it. You will have plenty of power and get about 700 miles per gallon.

You mean 700 gallons per mile!!! [IMG] [IMG]

No, seriously, I'm gonna sell this Blazer for profit to get extra $$$ and build up the '82 K30. [IMG] [IMG]

Figured I would let someone else "suffer" with 2.73 gears!! [IMG] [IMG]

Damn, all these stories make me feel like a lucky guy. When I bought my 84 eight years ago, I knew dick about gearing and stuff. A few years ago when I started looking for travel trailers, I realized my truck came with 3.73s.[IMG] It would have been a bit of a downer to find 3.08s or *gasp* 2.73s in her..........

    C'mon Wes...swap in a 14 with 4.10's and a D44 that matches and call it a day.

    My 81 came with 33's a 4 speed and 2.73's...[IMG]

I think you'll be on your 5th trans quicker than you want to be if you dont do something with the gearing before you go to the R4[IMG]

Sure, you could have 38's on 2.73's with a 4.3 liter V6. That would be worse.

My Chevy isn't broken, its just out of gas.
