I do *NOT* like breaking on the trail...

I was also going to get Yukon heat treated 4340 shafts to replace the broken ones (if it breaks, upgrade!) but was told they are on back order till Spring due to a redesign. So, I ordered 35 spline Spicers again. I really think the joint took out the shafts last time, so maybe this will work well, at least till the Yukons come out again...

Unfortunately for me I didn't realize Stephen carried the Yukons till after I gave up and just got the Spicers with a CTM. He was able to find the shafts I needed, but it was too late to cancel my order. Oh well, I would rather have the improved, thicker yokes that are coming on the new version anyway...

If someone buys CTM joints for my 10 bolt, maybe they can just beat the universal out of the broken shafts and stick it into a new shaft, eh? /forums/images/graemlins/rotfl.gif It seems Tom Woods has some new universal that is supposed to be guaranteed.

Not me....I'd drill a bunch of holes through the center of that cross to lighten them up a bit, then perhaps a nice 24K gold plating process??? It would really set off nicely against the orange and grey color scheme of the Truggy.

I'm sorry, I missed your question. I run Warn 35 spline slugs and I was running Spicer Life Series joints.

    Greg:
Hmmm, gold plating... Nah, I'll paint the axles orange again and leave the CTMs silver. I want them to stand out... /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

    Wes:
Mosers are not really very strong from all the input I've seen. Apparently they are not really a CrMo alloy and they do induction heat treating (already not the best) only on the shaft. The ears are soft, and that's where they usually die... The Superior and Yukon shafts (among others) are 4340 through heat treated (including the ears) and are reportedly MUCH stronger. The Superiors are the best, but at over $2k for a full setup, a bit out of my budget for now. And I thought the doubler was painful! /forums/images/graemlins/yikes.gif

    Scooby:
Come on down (or up as the case may be). Best wheeling in the world... 500 years from now they will mine this area for steel due to all the broken pieces that have hit the ground. /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif
