You can make a 383 stroker but what can you do to a 305?

I know that a 327 is really nothing more than a stroked 302 and a 350 is nothing more than a stroked 327 or a 'very' stroked 302. I would like to build a 383 stroker but I dont have a 350 /forums/images/icons/laugh.gif . I got 2 305's and want them bigger so anyone know what I could do with a 305? I mean like doing the same thing you would to make a 383? Any suggestions ideas and thoughts would be appreciated.

WATCH YOUR LOCAL PAPER FOR OLDER CHEVYS. A RUNNING 350 USELY GO'S FOR $100.00 TO $250.00 IN THE MIDWEST. IF YOU WANT TO HAVE REAL FUN, START WITH A 400 SMALL BLOCK AND BUILD A 406. USE 5.7 RODS, AND A CAM BUILT FOR 4X4'S LIKE COMP CAMS EXTREAM 4X4 SERIES. I'D ALSO USE FLAT TOP PISTONS. TRY FOR 10 TO 1 COMPRESSION. YOU'LL HAVE TO USE THE GOOD GAS, BUT IT'S ALOT OF FUN.

That's funny, that was my first thought.....

The amount of money you'd have to dump into a 305 to get it half way close to a to 383 you could have bought a 383 and tweeked that out.... /forums/images/icons/smile.gif

You can get a 3.75 stroke crank for the 305, just like the 350 to 383 conversion. It come to 334 i believe. If all you can find is a 305, then it is an option. Or if you just want to be different. 350's are getting harder to come by around here. Not all areas have this problem.
