I'm starting to prepare for my 454 swap. One of the items I need is an intake manifold. I found this on the Internet at http://greenwoodchevy.com/Merchant2/merchant.mv?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=GCGPPEDH&Product_Code=53000&Category_Code=APP

    From their website:

Power Plus polished Intake Manifold for big block Chevy. Precision cast in permanent steel molds to produce a better quality casting and less danger of porosity, unlike sand cast alloy intakes. Show quality hand polished (which would cost up to $200 by itself!). Fits big block Chevy V-8 engines with oval port heads, nitrous bosses and more! NOTE: Some after-Market Performance Parts may not be available for immediate shipment. Please allow additional time for delivery.

    Your comments are welcome.

Well, I'm not really sure if it is a cast iron or aluminum intake... The down side would be that it is the weight of cast iron over an Alum model. I don't see any real problems if you are going cat iron heads. I wouldn't mix and match by going cast iron intake w/ alum heads. Seems just adds to the chance of leaks due to the fact alum tends to change shape much more the steel when hot... alum between 2 pices of cast iron? No thanks... it does look really sweet though! The polishing looks awsome... I'd go for it if it is aluminum, but as I said I could really tell from looking

As far as I know, all Performer intakes are Aluminum.. That is what I would buy, but I would double check the prices between that Chevy dealer and Summit or Jegs. Summit and Jegs are usually alot cheaper and I believe they both carry the polished intakes.

I don't think I'd worry about aluminum intakes on cast iron heads. Oldsmobile from 1980-1990 used AL intakes with cast heads. I think I'd be more concerned with AL heads on a cast block, but GM did that as well, so who knows.
