Overview
Built a sweet offroad rig in less than an hour tonight!
I'm not sure why so many guys spend YEARS building something that can survive off road.... With the right parts the build can be super easy.
Here's how it went down:
Parts arrived tonight from UPS.
Exploded view of the critical components and beefy suspension items.
The front axle went together first... It's a single kingpin setup and since I wanted it to be awesome, I used a good quality synthetic grease during assembly.
Axle assembled and ready for installation...
Axle bolted under the front end....looking good and this build is cruising along at a good pace.
Rear axle installed.....
....but it needed more triangulation!
Greased up the axle spindles, front and rear to keep out water in case I do any big water crossings..
Wheels & tires going on...
Bodywork gets installed.... No rust, no alignment issues, no shimming.
BAM! The build is finished and already enjoying some quality time off the pavement!
So let this be a lesson to all of you..... You don't need to spend years, weeks or even DAYS building a great offroader.
"Danger" was sleeping while all this was happening, so tomorrow morning he is in for a great big surprise. I can't wait to see the look on his face.
