Wanted ‘76 NP203 miscellaneous parts

Hey all, I have been having a hard time finding the skid plate and stabilizing strut rod (and whatever mounting hardware/bushings are needed, I haven’t found a lot of information on this) for my transfer case. I’d also be willing to buy a shifter in good condition. Located in southern CA but will pay for shipping.

PS- I would also buy miscellaneous’76 trim/molding/grill

There was no stabilizing bar, it was a bracket on the frame next to the case, I believe @sweetk30 has a photo handy.
I have a broken one that needs welded.
I have a skid or 2.
I might have a shifter but my shed is a mess, the only thing in my face now is the skid plate

My understanding was the the torque rod version that goes from the 203 to the bellhouse of the trans works much better and doesn’t cause problems. They didn’t put them on all of the ones that got the 203 though, it’s hard to find. Easier to find the longer torque rod that went on later transfer cases

I actually have one of the longer ones, so I assume it would be even easier to fabricate from there.
Trying to get this truck finished has made it clear I need to learn to fabricate stuff, I’m still collecting the know how and tools though.

I have two 203 GM shifters but honestly, you'd be better off getting the ORD twin stick for your 203.

my 203 has the strut/support bar to the bell housing.

That's right, we can twin stick the 203! You get rid of the trouble prone and typically worn out factory shifter box and replace it with 2 levers for much more positive gear selection. One lever will shift the case through Hi-N-Lo and the other will control lock or unlock in the differential...

would you mind the next time you’re under your truck measuring the length of that rod? The later longer one is 36.5” end to end but I haven’t been able to find the length that I need it shorted to for the np203 TH350 anywhere.
Also what Hardware is used to mount it?

same as the old early 205 stuff if i recall . i never parted trucks with the 203 so i have no first hand info . only one i did was a early 77k30 th400/203 but by then the 203 / 205 had gone away from the frame brace setup and to a support rod if it got one .

I can't recommend the 203 twin stick enough. The GM one I had nothing but trouble with and for the headache of getting one, making sure it works properly to me isn't worth it. You'll save yourself a lot of headaches just getting the ORD twin stick.

I can't recommend the 203 twin stick enough. The GM one I had nothing but trouble with and for the headache of getting one, making sure it works properly to me isn't worth it. You'll save yourself a lot of headaches just getting the ORD twin stick.

Thank you for the pictures and info. I was crawling around the truck trying to get a really close measurement of the length of the rod so I can have a longer on shortened and found that when I had headers and new exhaust put in a month or so ago they routed the exhaust right in the damn way of the transfer case. AND further back put the exhaust directly under the rear bump stop. I’m not a happy camper
