I'm in the process of gathering parts to do a 52/56 swap w/ a B52 kit and a shackle flip put on "backwards" but in the hunt for springs ran across these...

Would a 1/2 ton '03 chevy be 63" rear springs? They look pretty dang long but nice and soft for the rear of my k10...
I was planning on running 56's but these look like another good option...

yea u gatta move the front hanger or your axle will be about 6" further back

can you move the rear hanger back enough on a k5 frame without touching the front one?

Yes you can but it puts your axle some 6"s back. Then your axle and tank get in fights all the time hitting each other.

AVERY, I am running 63"s on the k5 and moved the front and rear bracktes to keep it stock location. Not sure about trucks though, I think the tank is in the way on one side to move the front bracket.

You'd have to move your gas tank. Either to the bed or use a Blazer/Sub tank in the rear.

im running 64's in my k5 as well, i moved the front hanger forward, and so my axle was moved 2" back. i love the way it turned out

thats pretty much what i did. I moved the hanger up slightly and used a zero rate. It moved it back total about 2" and works well.

Ok well for what I do I don't think it's worth having to relocate the gas tank... If I could use a shackle flip on backwards and move the front hanger forward just a little then sure... but I just don't think it's worth it to have to relocate the tank.
I'll stick to the original 56" plan... I just thought that was a pretty good price for some nice springs...

Did you get 3/4 or 1 ton 56's? They're physically the same but the 1 ton has more leaf's in the pack correct?

you could start with the 1ton springs since they come with so many leafs, and then remove every other one, thats what ive seen most people do. when i made my spring pack, i combined 2 leafs packs, one from a 1500 and one from a 2500 to get the leafs i wanted. if u have access to a couple packs thats what id do

'73-'87 3/4 and 1 tons have the 56's in the rear and '73-'87 1/2 tons have the 52's in the rear?

no, ff14bolt 3/4 tons with a 6800 gvw. my 79 was like this.

Yes, but you will need to mod the frame where the shackle hanger will now mount, there is a hump in the frame thats in the way. Also the axle will be near the gas tank but depending on the diff cover your using you may be fine. I'm at about 4"s of lift in the rear and I have a diy4x razorback cover. The cover will just barely hit the gas tank skid, but it wont hit the gas tank

hmm ok well thanks for the heads up...

I'll just take a tape measure with me... I've heard you can't really just measure but I'm sure I'll be able to measure from eye to eye following the arc of the bottom spring and be able to tell if it's a 52 or 56...
Heck I need both so it wouldn't hurt either way...
