I know a few GM techs that are ready to give their notice, every time a Duramax truck comes in for glow plugs, one guy in particular is the "go to guy" when one has a glow plug that refuses to come out,he has to drill them out and seems to be the only guy who can do it with any success...he told me about having to lift the cab off sometimes, just like the newer Ford diesel trucks, when a head must come off,etc...
I'm, not bashing the Duramax,I just dont see why all manufacturers seem to be hellbent on making it much more difficult to repair anything on later model vehicles...though I know mechanics always come up with "short cuts" and invent better methods to repair things,I sure wouldn't want to be one, having to get something fixed in a big hurry working flat rate at a dealership...thats why the guy who ends up doing all the "suck jobs" on Duramax engines at the dealer wants to quit every time another one rolls in with a bellyache,he gets the same pay whether all 8 glow plugs come right out,or he has to spend a day drilling and praying they come out without having to pull the heads!..
