I have a 1983 chevy blazer full size. The badging shows k-5 silverado, but i've quite a few different opinons on whether this is correct or not. I am about to order my lift kit to put on the beater and need to know whether to ge thte 56" or 52" springs. Can anyone shed some light on whether mine is 1/2 ton or 3/4 ton. (not quite sure how to measure the spring accurately while on the vehicle.

All blazers are 1/2 tons.

The military Blazers are badged as 3/4 ton but there really is no difference short of a couple more leaves in the rear (which was an option on civilian Blazers too).

99.9% chance that the rear springs in a Blazer are 52" long, 3/4 and 1 ton trucks usually got 56" long springs.

Measure from bolt to bolt on the spring, I'm sure it will be much closer to 52" than it will be to 56"

I believe they are 52" springs. Good luck on finding out how to get that measurement though. I'm not sure how they came up with that. All half tons from those years should have 52s.

Can anyone out there verify this???

yup, all blazers have 52's out back stock... measure along the top of the spring, eye to eye..

doesn't matter... it's eye to eye with the spring FLAT.. so that means just conform the tape measure to the main leaf, eye to eye..

All blazers, all 1/2 ton trucks and suburbans, and half of the 3/4 tons are 52" springs.
You have 52" springs, no need t measure but if you want to you need to measure the length of the main leaf.

Thanks for all the input. That puts my mind at ease a little. Just put in my order. Now just to wait on the package and time to do it. Anything i should worry about other than extended brake lines and sway bar drop bracket? I'm not putting on a body lift.
