1 Ton going in auction today

I'm dumbfounded that people will pay that much for something that junky on auctions and when I try to sell something comparable to that, or a little better, they want to lowball you way below anything like this price.

Yeah, I would say it's already a little too expensive at this point. Curious to see how much it goes for

Yeah. It always baffles me that people will pay around $1000-$1500 for a set of one ton axles, but put an entire truck on it with a little road wear.....and $1500 becomes too much to pay.

I had a chance to buy an '82 K3500 C&C DRW with a flatbed, 454, 465, 205, 60, 14 with 4.10's and a no-so-great body for $1200 after haggling the owner down from $2K. He sold it out from under me with a buyer who showed up before I could. Didn't hurt my feelings as it was about 150 miles away.

I was thinking of doing the Gas Monkey tune up on it. Replace all the rubber brakelines, pads, shoes, etc., flush the fluids and freshen up, new filters, hoses, belts, etc., new bulbs, etc., just basically do what GM does when they want to flip something quick. This way the buyer can see the work is all done and the truck runs fine. Was thinking of tagging a $3500 asking price for it after doing all that work.

Then I see this ad today and here I'm slapping my head trying to figure how people can bid that much for a comparable truck to what I was looking at and then I do all that work to only sell it for the same cost as this as-is auction truck?

I'm at a loss for words sometimes with people.

Maybe what happens is people get caught up in "auction fever," and they figure oh i'll just bid a little higher to get the truck---the others will eventually stop----but they have "auction fever" too. So the price goes up, up , up......

So the answer is to sell everything by auction?

Not with eBay I won't. Their 10% fee is ridiculous.

I would have sold it too. First come, first serve. Have had too many people set up a time just to not show up. Or bail out at the last minute
