10 Bolt Axle Shafts

I have a '79 K20 p/u, and without taking my axle apart ,are all 6lug 1/2 ton 10 bolt fronts 28 spline and 8 lug 3/4 ton 10 bolts 30 spline, or does it vary by year?

Yeah according to the CK5 Blazer specifications page they switched over to 30 spline in '89.

No . They changed at a certain year , although a few may of been made early , or carried over late depending on who you speak too .

It wasn't the amount of lugs either . 8 lug don't mean chit , its a 10 bolt .

Search and shall find the year break .

A 79 would have 28 spline axles. The year break is roughly 88.

so could I find 8 lug 28s and they would slide right in with no other mods? and what about the rear is it the same way?

the axleshaft from a 6 lug 28 spline 10 bolt front is identical to an axleshaft from a 8 lug 28 spline front.

There is no rear 8 lug 10 bolts, only 6 lug. A 6 lug 28 spline 10 bolt axleshaft will fit either side or any 6 lug 28 spline 10bolt axle.
