1350's or 1410'S????

lol same here except I've got a bone stock tbi350 and 700r4 :(

x3! But IMHO that is a better plan than building a hot 383 or big block and fragging your stock drivetrain. If you build the drivetrain first, you don't have to worry (as much) about breaking stuff and you are ready to go when you finally build that engine.

At least that is the story I tell myself when I see everybody else's awesome engine builds. :doah: :d

Where to get 1410 U-bolt style yokes for 14FF and D60? I know that NWF has them, but they haven't answered any of my e-mails.

edit/ Jesse seems to have them, I'll send an email about the shipping. Hopefully it won't kill the deal...

It's best to call NWF, and yes nwf or high angle driveline are the places to go for a 1410 u-bolt yokes

Yep, building a hot 383 on a stock K5 can lead to bad things (broken t-case yoke and u-joint, broken 12 bolt detroit, etc :eek1:)

NWF was the best deal for me. I could get yokes ~$20 cheaper from my favorite local drivetrain dealer but they all use straps (Spicer stopped making u-bolt style yokes some time ago because techs would overtighten the bolts and crush the needles in the joint).

Not to hijack but only inform :D What is the working angle of a 1350 ujoint?

The maximum angle of a 1350 joint is 20 degrees.

Spicer specs their joint out for 3 degrees of misalignment without vibration (assuming both joints are operating at the same angle).

Once you exceed the 3 degree limit (which almost any lifted truck does) you will have to deal with vibrations. The fix is basically a double caradan (cv) shaft.

Both, Jesse and NWF have same price for yokes, but from my experience shipping is cheaper from Canada. I sent email to both, we'll see who gives better deal.

Still no answer from either one. Foun some U-bolt style yokes from ebay, but he don't ship overseas. Other dealer has them too, but with straps.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but since Spicer no longer makes U-bolt style, those that some dealers have, are just modified strap style yokes. If so, I could by those strapped yokes and machine them to accept U-bolts.

I would think so. You would have to drill out the threads and machine flat spots on the back of the yoke for the nuts to sit. The center-to-center distance on those hole would be the same for strap or u-bolt style (I would think). You would also have to check that the OD of the drilled out holes isn't to big for whatever u-bolts you end up using. I've never done it, but that's what I can come up with off the top of my head. Maybe somebody who has done it or has both styles will post up.

I am running a 1480 on my front shaft at the t case and a 1350's everywhere else. The 1480 set up will go to 42*. The 1350 on my D60 is a Tom Woods offset joint.

On a 10 bolt I think a 1350 would be plenty. I think axle shafts will snap long before the 1350 joint would.

i guess i ment to say anything thats 32 spline will accept 1410 or 1480 yokes...my 208 has 1410s front and rear

Both joints are more than strong enough for a lot of horsepower. The problem is the cast yoke. I broke a lot of joints and yokes until I went to a billet yoke. Billet yokes are only availible for 1350 joints. They cost about $150 but they will end the breakage.

I am bringing this one back up.

Is the an OE source for 1410 shafts slips and other parts? The local driveline shop has closed. So the junkyard or $$$ new stuff are my options.

i know the newer 1tons run 1410 rear shafts. the local driveshaft/spring place near me works on 18wheelers and stuff, and when i talked to them, they had all kinds of stuff. if you have dimensions that u need to work with just tell the driveshaft ppl and they should have a listing of stuff that will work. hope that helps. of look online on the spicer website, they got all the part numbers and dimensions and what not.
