So looking at gears on randys and I see that there are 3 generations list for the 14 bolt... Pre 84, 84 to 84 and post 85... What is the difference between them? How can I tell which one I have?

The 1984-85 axle uses a smaller pinion support bearing.

You should be able to measure the bearing if you have the gears out. Somebody will chime in if the 14BFF has a BOM number, I don't remember ever seeing one stamped in the tube. That'd be the only other way i'd know.
