Holy huge truss!

4Runner looks way too clean.

They definitely look cool on full-widths though...great minds do think alike. :D

Nothin new to report really. I started working on the leaf spring mounts on the truss, but after cutting a big notch out of the truss, I decided that I didn't like the way it looked, or would ever look with leaf springs....Decided to just wait till I have the $$$$ for these- http://www.summitmachine.com/index.php?p=customParts&cp=jj and just do it once. Kinda lost motivation after the leaf spring mount fiasco...so I'm takin a few days break.

Well, I almost forgot...I added these gussets-

Not a hinge, every thing is solidly welded, braced and gusseted, this just makes it removeable so you can get the pinion support housing out. Instead of having 3 or 4 bolts, I just used one big ass 3/4" grade 8 allen bolt. That bolt runs through 1 1/2" 3/8 wall dom. The the pinion support plate is 3/8". I welded it it with .045 dual shield wire on a Miller 350p mig welder...BeeeeeeEEEEEEeeeeeF. :haha:

Oh....cool, that makes sense. Good to see ya again around here. I left for a while and am now posting round these parts again:)

So I spent a good hour just sittin in the 'runner looking at the dash/tranny tunnel area tryin to decide what I'm gonna do with it. A quick pic and a few minutes with paint and this is what I've come up with-

We have a roller at work, so rolling the long windshield bar radius won't be a problem. The black in the picture will probably be aluminum diamond plate powder coated low gloss textured black. The green I haven't decided, other than that it will be green..I have the ability to roll the long radius in any material- round, square or rectangle. Haven't decided on that yet. So what do you guys think? Good? Bad? Bacon?:eek1: :haha:

1 1/4 .095. Need another full day to have it all framed in. Once I get this big as tranny hump/console thing all done, I'll go underneath and cut out the stock one with the plasma cutter, or an .045 wheel. I should end up with a pretty cool raised tranny tunnel big enough for chevy stuff. No body lifts here. I'm notching the firewall and moving the sb's distributor into the passenger compartment. I want weight as far back as I can get it, and as high up into the frame as I can get it. Also goin for the totally flat belly thing. :)

very cool!

I dig the square tube, should make the sheetmetal work much easier too, I get to play with a tube roler soon for a roof rack project, cant wait.

Thats exactly why I decided on the square stuff. Makes the sheetmetal pretty much cut and paste. I had as much 1 3/4" and 1 1/2" .095 hrew tube as I could have used, it might have looked "smoother" if I had used the round, but it would have been aloot more work and this will look pretty bad ass when it's done. I think the color scheme will be black and john deere green. :D
