14BFF Posi or Locker

to find a govlock you should look at people parting trucks out in your area or the junkyard. Govlock axles are less desired then open carrier axles so the price is usually pretty cheap. You just need to find a 14bff rear axle with your current gear ratio in it and a govlock and you should be all set. Put some new brakes on the axle or swap on your old ones, check the wheel bearings, and fill the diff with some clean fluid and your ready to go.

Ive got an eaton in my k5 and a detroit in the GMC. The detroit holds up to anything you can throw at it and really isnt that bad on ice, you will find that youll lay off the gas a little more coming out of corners. The eaton isnt even noticeable on the road but youll still find the rear end sneaking around on you sometimes. I prefer the detroit for all around just because its the last thing Im worried about breaking and its there when you need it, and if you know its there its not going to surprise you.
-If you dont need a full on locker get the eaton , if you do get the detroit and if you just want bling bling bragging rights go for a selectable. Also if youre going to spend the time and money on a traction aid of some sort dont waste it on a gov-lok, unless you find one for free dont bother.
On the ice getting your tires siped will make all the difference in the world.
