16\" wide tire on 15x14 wheel?

Just wondering if there's anyone that's running a 16" wide tire on a 15x14 rim? I have a set of 16/38.5-15 TSL's and if I go ahead and keep my tires, I just want to know what it looks like and if it's safe. I thought I posted this already, but for some reason it didn't show up. Anyway, thanks!

My personal opinion would be to stay with either 10" or 12" wide rims. I think that the 14" rims just put too much stress on the steering components and are not really needed even for the widest tires out there. If you just want the look of the wide rims, then go for it. I don't think there would be any real safety issues with using the 14" rim with the 16" wide tires, I just think they are excessively wide.

A couple of guys in our club are running 12" wide rims on 15" wides tires (33x15.50 Swamper SX's on 15x12 rims, and 42x15 Swampers on 16.5x12 rims), and both wish they had only gotten 10" wide rims for the 15" wide tires. Both have troubles with losing the beads on the tires when fourwheeling even when keeping the tires at street pressures. The 33x15.50's really look "ballooned" out with the 12" rims, the 42x15's also but it's not as noticable since they are so much taller.

On the opposite extreme, a guy has 13/38-16 Swampers on stock 16x6 rims. They are definitely a little too narrrow and I'm sure the centers will wear down, but he's put quite a few miles on them with no problems.

Anyway, based on my opinion that 12" wide rims are too wide for 15" wide tires (at least for wheelin'), I would recommend no wider than a 12" rims for your application, even if you went with something like an 18" wide Bogger in the future.

    I agree with 6.2

    I am running a 15.50" wide tire on a set of 15x10's...
