I have a 90 Burb V2500 8 lug. Its going to get a 6 inch lift. With Either 35 x 12.5 16 or LT315 75 R16 basically same tire.

Im mainly going for looks & reliability. Will mainly be used for light off road & hauling on occassions. mainly looking to see what everyone prefers, & pictures with a 35 on a 16x8 compared to a 16x10 would be icing on the cake. Any info woulod be great.

I know i will be happy with both, just want to pinpoint the direction I want to go. i heard with the 12.5 tire it might not be a good idea with an 8 inch wide rim. but I see it all the time, but usually on lighter Jeeps.

general rule is 2" less width than tire width .

over the years i have seen it all. i prefere the 2" less look my self. but if you had to the 8" would work fine just suck sidewalls in a bit more and crown the tread a bit more.

also as you said same size tires in metric or american size info .

Here is mine with 16x10's on 315s, in my opinion 315's look better on 10's on these body styles.

running 17x 8.5" H2's with 315/75/17 (35/12.5/17) tires, Not too bubbly of a look, nice stright lines of the sidewalls, I've seen a few 12.5" wide tires on 10" wide rims, not a real fan of the curved sidewall look.

I've also had other 12.5 wide tires on an 8" wide rim, my preference is that it looks good, again, not trying to stretch the sidewalls out to fit the wide rim.

H2 rims...

you can kind of see the tire look in this one, these were 33"x 12.5 on an 8" wide steel rim.

I vote for 16x8 as well.

12.50's isnt very wide and a 10" width would make the sidewalls look balloon-ey. A narrow wheel also keeps the sidewalls less exposed. I have 37x12.50x17 Interco SSR's on 17x8.5 Hummer H2 wheels, and 35x12.50x17 BFG AT's on stock ford 17x7.5" wheels and love how the tires are nice and square.

Here's a pic of the 37x12.50's on 8.5" wheels

I personally like 35x12.5 on a 8 inch rim. It protects the rim better and doesn't give the tire a flat face to rub on rocks. Aired down it also puts more pressure on the bead without having bead locks. If you aren't planning in wider tires the 8 inch is perfect for that size tire. It's all personal preference.

For me, the correct answer was whatever wheels i could find a deal on :)

Are you set on 16's?

If not, go 17 and get some H2 wheels. They look good, and can be had for cheap.

looks good.

looks good. do you know the bckspace by any chance?

thanks

Pics were helpfull & appreciate everyones thoughts.... After everything is said & done Im thinking 16x8 with 35 x 12.5 x 16 is the ticket & the look I want. But would still like to see more pics if possible.:D

these are Michelin 16x11 tires on the stock 3/4 ton chevy wheels. I do not know the width of the tires but I think the wheels are 16x6? Rim roughly 2 less than tire is the point. I had a 8" rim on there and it was too wide.

Here is 35x12.5 wide on 8" rims

Stock H2's are something like 4.5" backspacing, about half an inch in further than factory Chevy wheels I guess. They are tucked in just a tad bit more, but still good.
