1968 C10 DD, project "New Tricks"

Ok, so the directions don't mention a year split but their website says 63-70 and 71-72. Dammit

I wonder if I can hammer out the larger studs and put them in the other frame. I have to go down to CPP anyway, but I'm kinda liking the idea of larger studs.

Worse comes to worse you could always bush the arms. Honestly once its all clamped down its not going to make too much of a difference...

CPP is telling me it's all correct. The holes are large to make room for camber/caster adjustments. I think it's bullchit. There is no way I'm running 1/2" studs, 1/2" washers and nuts, to hold on a piece of suspension with ~+9/16" holes. I'm going to try to run a sleeve. Only problem is finding something. I DONT like how sloppy they are. The arms fit nice on the C20, which uses 9/16" studs. Unfortunately, that part went to the scrap yard last week.

Still upgrading hardware and making changes. Took me forever to finish the back suspension but it all went in smooth.

I'm sure diy4x4 could whip you up something real fast and cheap. For the control arm bushings that is.

Yeah you're going to need to get something made. Like I said though nothing will happen to be quite honest. Once that arm is bolted down all the movement is in the ends of the dog bone. I bought tubular control arms for my 442 once and said "WTF the studs are half inch and the holes are 5/8ths". After talking with everybody running the arms the consensus was that its just the way it is. I did look for bushings for a long time and came up with nothing FYI.

Needs an hour on a lathe. Best advice would be to buy something with a 1/2in ID already so you only need the outside cut.

I scrapped a 2wd 1 time and took a good look at the 2 bolt/studs your talking about .

I seem to recall there just like a wheel stud for a 3/4 or 1 ton rear with drw for the length .

and them telling you this is FU*KIN BULL SH!T

as a guy who use to do alignments I can tell you the guy who will be doing your alignment would hate you with that kind of play they say is just fine

find and fix the real problem first please .

Just got off the phone with everyone's favorite brain cancer fighter Rob. He's going to look into spinning me up a set of bronze bushings with his mill. I hate these kind of set backs but I think I would be disappointed with the slop later, especially knowing how much I abuse my DDers. Having some custom bushings from Rob would be pretty dang cool anyhow :)

It was "Bring your axle to work day" apparently. Got some paint on it. Flat black with gloss cover :D

1/2" stainless brake/fuel line has a 1/2" ID and 9/16" OD. just a suggestion:dunno:

Really? Sh1t I wonder if I can get that locally.

I measured last night and the stud is .48 while the hole is .59. Sounds close enough to 1/2x9/16" right? Hmm

Trying to figure out my rims. While it's not even close to driving, I will still need this roll-able far before drivable. The stock 15"s wont fit around the brakes either :doah:

the "go-to" that everyone has because it looks great
or something slightly different (without the knockoffs though)

Torque thrusts for sure. Idk what your style is but pro stars are always good and look sweet with a black center and aluminium hoop

those 5 spokes in the first pic for sure.

Even though id prefer some stock rally wheels. But they prolly wont fit big brakes.

Still thinking about the rims.
Got the arms bushed and spindles assembled. Nothin' but sexy all sprawled out on the garage floor. :D Playing the parts waiting game right now. :(
