1968 C10 DD, project "New Tricks"

I think the Ridlers have a deeper looking dish than the Boss rims. Kinda like the Ridlers more but I got a good deal on these and Nittos from American/Discount tire.

60,000 mile tread warranty, craziness :D

20x8.5"

I didn't want a too aggressive tire (though they look really cool). So this was kinda in the middle. I really wanted the ability to rotate them, so I gave into practicality lol

While assembling the front end I noticed something I really don't like.

There is an up travel and down travel bump stop. The down travel one is literally only cosmetic, so if the front end drops far enough it's the shock that stops it. There is still spring tension too, until the shock is removed, then it's loose. I'm thinking of finding a larger bump stop and replacing the tiny one.

prob a good idea to do that .

I know energy suspension has a universal listing page on there web site for these with pictures .

Looks great in my eyes!! Sorry that I am slow to pay attention, but I was looking back through this thread, and noticed that the truck came factory with bucket seats and the bases are original as is the center console. I don't know what your plans are for seats, but I am sure that if you don't use those parts, that you can sell them fairly easily. I have seen complete, bare seat frames and bases sell for $500!!!! So there is some value in those parts if you don't use them.

Keep up the progress!!!!!

I like the direction you are going with it. :waytogo:

I love the buckets and jump seat. Best of both worlds kinda(bench/buckets). I might go back to the stock buckets but they tend to be pricy and I kinda like that I have headrests. I'll probably sport the body and interior As-Is for now till I can afford the paint and upholstery.

Spent the weekend in Vegas, sweet bachelor party. Gotta get back to the truck now :D
For shiggles

Pulled the rest of the stuff off the firewall. I'm not shaving anything, just painting and throwing it back together. There are a lot of corners to be cut, basically cause I don't have time for it all. My Blazer is in storage just so I can have the room. I hope to address the rusted rockers and paint down the road. For now, I just need it to take over DD duties.

So, the firewall was cleaned really good and spray bombed. It will get some Oil Rustolium rolled on. Not sure if I should use gloss or flat black. :dunno: Leaning towards flat as I'll probably do the rest of the engine compartment with it.

Also, since I don't have a picture of the fine ass this thing has :D Although I'll be selling it

I like satins/semi gloss for engine compartments.. tho that wont be an option unless you rattlecan..

gloss is the best solution longterm, but tends to look a bit hokey for a while till it dulls a bit..

flats look great when you put em on, but don't clean well and tend to get cr@ppy the quickest...

hmmm good point

I'm thinking about using a Harbor Freight sprayer to take care of the firewall. I didn't want to (since the gaps are good) but I'm thinking about pulling the front clip apart. That way I can clean and spray it properly.

I think the rims and brakes are going to be the biggest attention whore. As for the body and it's current paint, it will probably stay as is. It might be a good thing (as a DD) to keep things on the down low around here.

(I'm still looking for a motor/trans)

just going to put this here for safe keeping
it's the color I am choosing for the C10. Volkswagen "blue graphite metallic"
I've been looking at colors like crazy lately. Kinda silly really seeing paint could be years away. I wanted a dark metallic grey, without being overly flaky. Something simple, no impact colors, looks good in different lighting, and not too dull. I want it to look good, not too eye-catchy, something you could easily walk pass it in a parking lot. Then one day, this bluish grey caught my eye....

Broke the front clip down. Found someone that will glass bead and primer it for $150-$200. And as I suspected, the driver fender and front grill are NOT original to this truck. Looks to have come off another C20 that was white. I fear how bad the driver fender is going to look after blasting, not because of rust, but because the little bit of bondo I can see already. :doah:I may end up searching for another.

I'm looking for a high hump trans tunnel just in case I end up with a 6.0/4l80 combo. I thought they were bolt in but apparently not. My tunnel is part of my floor. How is it that I've seen them bolted in?

I don't know for sure about 67/72 but 73 and up the two wheel trans humps are one piece with the floor and the 4x4s are bolted in. :dunno:

I Could be wrong though. Just what I've seen.
