1974 Nova on Craiglist

Price seems high, but it probably isn't, as the body looks solid.

Martin

That's my thought... I don't do body work, but I can fix just about anything else. I'm going to try and look at it today and see.

Update... I took a look at it and that body and undercarriage is clean. No sign of spraying over rot, and I couldn't detect any filler in the body. I struck a deal with him, but it turns out his title is missing a digit.

I walked away with a gentleman's agreement on the price while he gets that title fixed with the clerk.

Good for you, I hope it gets worked out. Looks like nice car.
Value seems to be there. They're not going to get any cheaper.
Hate those 74 bumpers. 5 mile hour crash crap

The ad is taken down… I’ll post some pics if/when this is worked out and the deal goes through.

I got it for $9k, listed at 10.5k

That's a pretty good price in this area in my opinion right now. I paid $4500 for this. No motor or trans out of Denver. Tiny bit of rust over the rear wheel house on drivers side. Good looking car you have. I saw that listing. I was headed the LS/T56 direction with mine so it was the perfect candidate20210824_200904.jpg

Nice! Looks like a 73/74 like mine. Yeah, I paid for the body on mine. I can do everything else. Here's my plan, in order:

Tune-up (getting some misfires on the carbed 350)
New tires, possibly new wheels with proper backspacing (it rubs the rear fender when I have a passenger)
Vintage air
700r4 trans - an overdrive would be nice on road trips

Aside from that, I would like to return it to a more original look and we're not far. A couple of emblems, put the stock steering wheel back on, go back to chrome bumpers. Speaking of which, if you want some blacked-out bumpers, I'd be willing to trade! Otherwise I'll just have to peel off this plastic coat from mine.

do your bumpers have the black impact strip on them? I have a parts car that has a really nice set of chrome bumpers if I'm not mistaken.

My rally wheels do the same. I need more backspacing as well. I'll have to go 17" once the C5 brakes go on anyway.
The overdrive is especially nice. The F body t56 I put in has 2 overdrives. Compliments the 4.10's quite nicely!

Yeah, mine have the impact strips. Unsure how the chrome looks under the plastic coat, though. I'll start peeling that off soon and get back to you.

I fixed the misfires -- basically it was somewhere in the ignition. The points dizzy was pretty crusty, so I just converted to HEI. Runs much better!

Up next is installing the bushing kit. It looks like the rear shackles were drilled for a 2" rear drop, which is contributing to my tire rub problem. I'm going to reverse that, look at the diff for a gear ratio and possibly throw in a Posi that I pulled from my suburban.

40 years ago I was getting Chevy II's for a 100. Should have kept them all. Got a 63 ss 1x all the trim was there needed an eng and trans some interior.
