It was raining again today so I decided to go to a parts yard I heard about at the paint store.
I found a 1974 C10 Cheyenne and pulled thes parts off it. It was the nicest interior I've ever seen on one of these this old....

The door panel blew me away...

I need to paint it and the seat belt buckles...does anybody know how to get the plastic cover off the seat belts?

The dash bezel was very good except for the top right corner...I may try some plastic surgery...

The driver's side vent is rusty, but it's not broke...any tips on restoring one of these?

Nice.

Wish I could find a 'yard around here AND with anything solid in it.

Haha pun intended??:haha:

A little paint should brighten that right up I would think. Nice score btw!!
How much for the lot?

Nice.

He has a lot of 70's Chevy trucks with the round headlights on his lot...but most of them are empty shells with bumpers and glass the only thing left...I was shocked when I walked up on this one and the interior was still in it.

I will be going back to have another look...when I had more than I could carry I was worn out and didn't go back.

When I called last week the guy on the phone said they didn't have anything that old....bullcrap...let that be a lesson...go look for yourself....

I've heard stories of a few places around here.

If you look in the phone book there's only one place in town and they're notorious and not in a good way.

Everything else is just word of mouth, "collections", "closed" junkyards, etc.

Problem is right now in Central Kentucky it's hot and humid as all get out, the weeds are armpit deep, and the ticks are plottin' on you as soon as you get within 50' of them. My buddy and I will hit a yard or three in the fall I think.

It is here too...there were so many frogs and lizards I was stepping on them...I could smell snakes too...I just didn't know where they were...this wasn't a city yard...it was out in the sticks...

Anybody know what thet horn emblem looked like new?

I'd be leery of rattlers down south in junk cars!..---I remember stopping to look at a '72 Chevelle for sale in TN when I was there in 1992--a gas station had it behind the building,it had no motor or trans, but was a nice solid shell==when the guy opened the trunk to show me how nice the trunk floor was,he slammed it shut instantly and I heard the rattling--he said OH S***--better RUN--SNAKE!!!....

I never saw it,and I wasn;t about to go looking for it either!...I pity whoever bought that car,as far as getting it hauled out of there--for 500 bucks it WAS a steal though..this was right in Nashville too,not some rural farm town!..the guy said they see snakes at least once a week somwhere in the lot..

The horn button looks just like that one ,only without the "alligatoring" !!...sun must have baked that one for years??..

I too long for the days the junkyards had a hundred old GM trucks waiting to be cannibalized--now you rarely see one thats got one useable part left on it--people are keeping ALL the parts to sell online,or use themselves now,and are just scrapping the skeletons...:(

Thinking the "alligatoring" was stock.

I have those exact door panels, and two bezels in better shape for sale

Good find man, parts yards up here are usually in decent shape, but stuff for our trucks are hard to find, about the only way you find something is a interchangable part off of a van. Lots and lots of vans up here. :dunno:

I thought the emblem might have once been gold?

Whatcha got? PM me if necessary....

Noticed my bezels were not wood grain like yours, and forgot about the previous owner(s) poor din radio cut outs. The doors, while in good shape, the rectangle trim around it is almost off, I'm not sure if bolts go through, or some type of rivet. They must have just looked nicer at first glance next to my junk :D

I did both sides on my truck.I got the parts from classic industries, No fitment issues. I have some pic's of the project if interested I can get some up.
