1977 Silverado Crew Cab.

No e brake for meow. I really want to do a transfer case mounted one when I put a transfer case in it. Otherwise I might also just do the double caliper thing and run a separate hydraulic one. Maybe just a manual line lock? We'll see.

Jamin, that's exactly what it does.

All that bleeding of the brakes and fresh fluid I'm sure didn't help that tired master. Neither does pushing it all the way to the floor when bleeding it.

Rear disks do look nice. I always thought they looked puny after removing those giant drums.

smaller and work more effectively. gotta love advancements in technology. lol

I believe that in pure stopping power, properly set up 13" drums can outperform discs. It's the constancy of the discs that I like better.

I like drums. Would have kept them because they stop fine. But it's cheaper to convert to disk than to replace the drums, shoes and cylinders, which mine where junk.

Anyhoo. I don't see a front driveshaft yet:whistle:

I have my fingers tightly crossed to pick up a d60 over 4th of July weekend! I'm not putting anything under the front unless it's a 60! And I need to find a th400/np241 combo too. I'm not going to bother with a 205. For what I do, I'll never have any trouble out of the 241 and I'll likely be going to an electronic Trans in the future which the 241 will be compatible with, and provide vss signal to. Not to mention the th400/241 combo is way cheaper than a th400/205!

3.73s. Planning on sticking with that. I would do 4.10s and over drive but I just hate relying on od to have reasonable highway rpms. 3.73s cruise comfortably at 65-70 in 1:1. But 3.73s and od makes for nice smooth cruising anywhere between 55 and 80. 4.10s start to suck around 55 in 1:1. In other words, the 3.73s will stay.

So I have been talking to the wife and a plan is confirmed. After the 4th, 90% of extra money and time is going to getting the crew painted before Halloween! I think I can do it. Not having ever painted a truck before, It might be tough, but there really isn't much body work to be done. I'm thinking about putting a lean to off the side of the garage and having that be my paint area. It's about a 15'x25' space which would be better than trying to paint it in my garage. That's still slightly up in the air, but is likely to happen. Either way, the crew shall be lookin good before long!

The space,

I'm for either way. I currently own a long box, and my last hauler was a short box. It sure is nice to still have a full bed while having a tool box in it too.

Well my big hang up from doing a short bed is that my end goal is to put a camper on this truck. And I just want to use it as a truck all around. So with that in mind, I think it most wise to keep the long bed, although aesthetically, the short bed is where it's at.

For a paint booth, you can use PVC pipe to make a frame and hang plastic sheeting over it. Add in a positive air flow with a filter and you are set.

Well I want to build a lean to off the side of the house anyway so I can have a spot under cover for one of the rigs during the winter. I figure I can just do that and then wrap it in plastic when it comes time to sand or spray. My neighbor is pretty cool so I'm sure I can tell him what's up and when I'll be doing what I'm doing and we can work out an arrangement.
