1978 Suburban 4x4 Front Spring "flip"?

I have been told, though not sure how many beers they had, that the front springs could be flipped and a add on leaf for extra clearance instead of buying new front 4" lift springs. Wondering if anyone has done this or heard of it?

From what i heard if you flip over the front springs they end up with negative arch like they originaly had.

Dosnt work. If you take a front spring off the truck and sat it on the ground it would lie totaly flat. therefore arching just as much in the oppisite direction. Does that make sence?

I pretty much figured they were full of B.S. since I been around this truck when I was 11 years old, bought it off my Dad in '03, and I never heard of people doing this. Figured I would do a double check on it. No problem, will hit eBay up for lifted fronts anyways, thanks for the info!
