Hi. I have a 1982 k30 crew cab 4x4 with np205 and was originally a 6.2. I have a wrecked m1008 that is in pretty good shape with 60000 original miles. I am wanting to put the 6.2 back into the k30. What do I need to change? I know torque converter but are radiators different? Sending unit? I have a whole complete donor truck. My k30 also has a gravity fed tool box tank can I still utilize it? Thanks. I am wanting to change back for fuel economy and reliability. I am going to eventually do a Cummins swap. The k30 is currently a 454 but was changed from a 6.2.

Why? If you’ve got a good running 454 and are doing a Cummins swap later, save the money and labor and leave the 454 until you do the Cummins.

Gas is so expensive and the 6.2s are capable of good fuel economy and wouldn’t I be setting the truck up for the Cummins swap by changing over to diesel? Valid point though I just don’t know how long it will take me to get a Cummins and all the parts necessary.

Its practically a bolt in affair having both trucks handy. Assuming they maintained mostly stock configurations.
