Everytime i go to fill my tank it will burp and come out the filler, i have dropped the tank and ran a new vent, blew out the vent on the sending unit, i have tried turning the nozzle upside down, nothing is working. The gas tank i have is not baffled and i think a 25gal so I ordered a 31gal baffled tank since I did the ls swap. Will this new tank help anything? or do i need to change something? (Not relating to this question, but i was also wondering if the fuel skid plate will fit with the bigger tank?)

Thanks for the help, really hoping to be able to fill at full speed!

if there is currently a gap between skid plate and tank of @1" or so it should fit. as for the burp, many filling issue are related to the vapor recovery system. the tank should vent through the charcoal canister. check the line going to the canister.

Good, I think there was a gap
I do not have a canister, the vent is just going to the port right next to the filler

1982 should have had a canister, so possibly the line was plugged when the canister was removed

open vent line at the tank will allow dirt to drawn (vacuum)in while engine is running, I wouldn't plug it. maybe a bit of fuel line and paper fuel filter. I always fill my slow and hold the vapor collection open. the nozzles in Kommiefornia will not lock into me tank filler, 1977, so 40 gals takes a bit of time. Never had the burp issue thou

Hmm wonder what’s causing mine then, I probably should filter it but it is open to air right now

The problem is actually the long flat filler hose from the tank to the filler neck.
It doesn't flow fast enough and backs up as if it's full.

This is what I have heard, that there is not enough slope to keep the gas moving. Are there any solutions for this?

Have you tried setting the pump handle to flow at a lower setting? Or other pumps/stations? At one time I did a casual comparison of pumps, and they varied pretty widely in how much fuel they flowed. Sometimes the lower flow setting on the pump handles is still pretty significant flow.

That's the only thing that ever works for me, the lowest setting, that is why it takes forever but I can set it and forget it :pimp:
