ok i just replaced my steering column wich pretty much fixed all my light problems but when i turn my high beams on my dash lights start flickering and all four headlights start flickering also and after i finished putting in the new steering column in i had 3 wires left over one black wire with a weird flat connector on the end a wire with a weird blue plastic piece on the end of it and then a wire with a black plug on the end of it if you need pictures of these wires let me know. thanks for any help

Post pics of the wires. Start with that.

You've checked all the grounds out under the hood, under the dash?

How is the connector to the back of the instrument cluster? If that connector is loose or corroded it can play all kinds of tricks on ya.

That blue thing is a scotch lock, not original to the truck. Looks like someone tapped that wire into something. Follow that wire, find out where it goes. Just a guess but it looks like a ground wire for an aftermarket radio or other similar aftermarket add on. Usually the factory wires don't have printing on them.

The other square plug with multi wires and the flat tab on it looks like it goes to a cruise control module.

ok haha i actually was fartin around in my garage last night and i happend to come across a package of those blue connector things and then i was ooooooooohh so thats just someone elses **** under there but last night i was playin with the headlights again and the low beams are flawless but when i turn high beams on they just wont stay steady, they are trying to but something is holding them back and the dash lights flicker with them too. its making me crazy cause ive never had all 4 lights on and for less than half a second they were all on and bright but then went back to flickering

When mine was doing that the headlight switch was bad. On low bean the current wasn't enough to cause it but on high it would get hot.

but my low beams are actually pretty bright for low beams? well that could make sense cause my battery voltage goes down when i turn my high beams on

yea but when the truck was off me playin with the high beams for like 2 min almost killed my battery and low beam does not drain my battery at all

my high beam indicator lights were also flashing on and off and the voltage gauge was bouncing back and forth real fast but only with high beams

As I said before, check the connection on the back of the guage cluster. And check the cluster in general. If the plug is loose or corroded or any corrosion on the wiring plate on the cluster it can cause all kinds of weird things. Voltage will start cross contaminating and powering up different circuits.

You have checked all the grounds in the front and rear of the truck too? If the voltage can't ground where it is supposed to it will back feed through other connected circuits.

Sorry, but there is no quick and easy answer. You'll need a wiring diagram, a test light, and a volt/ohm meter. And a basic understanding of automotive electrical.

if we were face to face right now i would hug you i just went out and fiddled with the plugs on the back of the headlights and pushed em on real tight and my problem is solved!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11 I LOVE YOU

ok the only light problem i have now is when i have the headlights on and i turn on a turn signal the opposite turnsignal in the rear flickers a tiny bit. could this be a ground?

Quite possibly, yes. Also check the trailer hitch wiring as mentioned before..... or in another thread.
