I replaced the floor pan sections under my front seats, do to some rot and fatigue cracking, this time last year. I used the original pans as templates to lay out my bracket mounting holes in the pan. What’s been bugging me since I’ve put it back together is I’ve noticed the passenger seat seems to sit closer to the center of the truck than the drivers. Does anybody know if this was by GM design to allow better access to the rear seat from the passenger side? Or did I botch my pan replacement (first time tackling floor pans)?

Ok I put in a set of 88 Jimmy seats in my 82 K5 I use the holes that where there. I'm pretty sure there the same. It may look that way, because thereis no steering wheel.

Having read your post, and having replaced my seats, using the original holes, I just had to go check mine. 87 K5. I don’t think you did wrong. My passenger seat is ~1.5 inches closer to the center console than the driver seat and that much further away from the door. Has to be for more clearance to get in the back, right?

Can’t believe I never noticed it. Then again, I don’t think I’ve ever been in the passenger seat.

I had a friend measure for me when I put my seats in.
