The "compromise" is partly me talking myself out of going crazy with this thing, and partly how all the parts on the blazer work together as a whole- and always being compared to the 4x4 toys i used to have, and what my friends are driving/building:
-Not the biggest tires, but affordable -and because they are reasonable size, hopefully wont be breaking axles all the time
- Engine needs a little more power than stock, but still needs to meet emissions standards, and shouldn't be breaking all the parts in the drivetrain on a regular basis
-No overdrive on the highway, but gearing is a bit tall and keeps the RPMS down on the street -and the granny low gear in the transmission, and swapping to a transfer case with better gearing brings back everything needed to go low and slow.
-more ground clearance, but keep the overall height of the vehicle as low as possible
-AC doesn't work, but THE ROOF COMES OFF IN THE SUMMER ANYWAY
-etc...
-etc...
-EDIT- recently became aware that my system of keeping track by page number is flawed as not all browsers and setting are equal... I may need to revise this.
Page 1 - Back Story- -Scout stuff- -10 bolt gov-loc sheared the carrier- -cheapest spring lift ever (actually made money doing it)- -modified crossmember- -axles with 3.73 gears- -semi float 14 bolt rear- -new shock mounts- -hood pins-
Page 2 - -Trail pics- -starter/ clutch override switch- -new stereo- -added center console- -CB and custom antenna mount for it- - added videos of the astro van we found in the desert- -NP241 install with custom crossmember- -custom skid plate- -broken engine- -started building the new engine-
PAGE 3 - Engine building- -custom "most badass air cleaner ever"- -haulin landcruisers to the graveyard- -35 inch tire upgrade-
PAGE 4 - Trail testing and now the tires are rubbing- -back in the driveway for front fender cutting-
PAGES 5 thru 8 -THE BUMPER IS HAPPENED, and the "can opener" gets the winch- -Puckering (aka how to get dirty and destroy your underpants on the way home from work)
PAGE 9 -Digging and rocking out is the pits-
