1989 Full Convertible Project Done!!!!!!

I wish I could have it done to my truck

Well if you are ever up in az let me know. My friend said he would do the conversion on others for a reasonable price. The price he gave me was pretty cheap compared to taking it to a shop. He told me around a grand althogh that may have changed after he finished mine. :haha:

Since it's been a while since you did the swap, have you had any negative effects?

Not really other than replacing some of the weatherstripping on the top it has been pretty water resistant. I still need to put in a rollbar. I need a factory 76-91. I don't want a full cage cuz this blazer is not going to get wheeled hard. Some on here have had problems with body sag I guess I am lucky no problems like that. Yet...

Glad to hear no body sag. I am getting ready to do my 83....just got the windshield frame, top, caps, etc from a 75.

How did you determine the angle of the cut at the top of the doors. I am wondering now if I need the doors off the 75 for a template?????

In your research did you find a good way to brace underneath to ensure no body sag? I know you don't have any but I want to be safe and just get it done.

Great looking K5...hope mine turns out as nice as this one.
Thanks for any advice.

Thanks k5greeality I couldn't of done it without my friend Randy he was the skipper on this one and I was the little buddy. He just told me when to cut and grind  We did not make templates for the doors. After we grafted on the windshield frame Randy pretty much eyed and used tape as a guide to make the cuts. Then he had me take out the inners form the 74 doors and we tack welded the caps on. Hope this pic helps some.

Well ladies and gentlemen I now have a full 89 conv. This was a fun project :doah: I could not have done it without the help and great fab skills of Randy72  . It is a lot more work than I thought it would be. It can be done if you have the time and the tools :eek1: . The article on this site really helped. Have to thank bajablazer for that. Pretty much followed his article. Took lots of pics hope to have them up tomorrow. :D Let the questions begin.

******* Finally Some Pics *******

I'm glad to hear that my article helped someone out. I love my '90 Full Convertible. Next project will be stretching it 12 inches to a 120” wheelbase (it’s a Desert Racing thing) and splicing two tops together behind the side windows.
