nixit submitted a new Build:

1990 k5 with lQ4/4l80e

Been dreaming of this for years. I have a 1990 k5 1500 in good shape and an 02 Silverado 2500HD for a donor. Im pulling the body for undercoat, painting frame, and painting body. I might be painting it myself I've always wanted to

Drivetrain will be

LQ4 6.0 (rebuilding)
  • Milled heads and small cam
  • stock truck manifolds
  • stock truck intake
4L80e (rebuilding)
NP241c
  • slip yoke eleminator (If budget permits)
14-bolt rear from donor
  • has 4.10's may re-gear or may wait and get a 60 front and re-gear then
10-bolt front for now unless I find a D60 for a bargain

Got my Dirty Dingo mounts. They are different from the ones I've seen here. There are no welds, I know people have complained about weld quality so I guess this is a good thing. The eye is slotted, that will make it easier to install, but I still don't dig it man. It will probably work fine but it looks like a step down from the older ones.

Sub'd

I just got my '89 two weeks ago after years of waiting. I'm wanting do something real similar and look forward to seeing how you wind up doing yours. For whatever reason the 6.0's seem to be cheaper and easier to find where I'm at and that's fine by me lol.

I haven't decided the high mount ac brackets are out there. Im going to wait and see how everything looks. When it's mocked up. I read somewhere it would work if you moved the engine far enough forward... well see

I've got this crazy idea of getting a rear ac out of a van how cool would that be

A lot of Suburbans have rear AC units as well. What would you do when you take the roof off?

I can't make my damn mind up. I love the factory look and feel. But I also want that machine that let's you know you just climbed into something serious (this ain't a game BOY!)

I think I want to move EVERYTHING off the column, I to a console that kinda integrates with the factory dash. Hard to explain, I'll try to mock it up tonight.
