Not so much of a build at least for now, as much as it will be a fix it up kind of thread. This is the thread where it started,

http://coloradok5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=304202

But i figured since there was going to be some tech starting shortly, i better start a new thread in the garage. So here is some pics to start.

Ok, now here are my first two questions, what does the M and CM mean on the mirror,

20130122_105358.jpg

And what do these wires go to?

20130122_105351.jpg

whats sad is how many issues identically my 95 has

exterior door handle broken in same spot by key hole
interior door handle broken off (just get one from rockauto, $8 + shipping)
interior lamp lenses
hood latch release lever breaking loose

The C on the mirror is compass and the M is the auto darkening.

Kerts SAS kit makes impressive lift. Just be sure you replace your front rear spring hangars with truck ones. They are built different and provide more lift.

Those wires under your gauge cluster don't plug into anything. My
95 burb had them there too. Must be for some factory options we don't have.

I pulled the stereo out cause the faceplate was missing. Was happy to find that the wiring was done correctly and nice.

Was not happy (well i kind of was for my sake) to find how insanely easy it is to rip the stereo out in these trucks!

BTW, if i were "rich"... I would totally do a 6.0, 4l80e, SAS with a 60, 14 bolt rear, keep it low (max 4" lift) and run late-ish model (like 05) oem silverado wheels, and 305/70-16 Toyo MT's. That would be bad ass.

Ok, how about bfg km2's?

Also, i havent mentioned it yet, but the first things to go will be the running boards and air damn! Yuk!

Just made my first purchase for the Tahoe! A new faceplate for the stereo! :haha:

Yea, pretty silly first purchase, but it was on ebay for $20 shipped so i took it.

This is it.

I got the truck with the stereo in it but missing the faceplate. So im taking a $20 chance that the faceplate im getting is good, and that the rest of the deck is good as well. Down the line, if i hang on to this truck, i will put a newer deck in. But for now, if i can get tunes for $20 im going to be excited!

Priced everything out for my next little spending spree and found that it will only cost me about $5 more to just go down the street and pick everything up a orielys vs. ordering from ebay/rockauto. And they have it all in stock. I'll be getting; power steering line, o2 sensor, plugs, two interior door handles, fuel filter, oil change, and and i think thats it for this round. Still gotta get it registered and in my name so that will take a hefty chunk of change. Then i will drive it a little and move on to other stuff that needs done. My next most important change will be converting the heater hoses to normal style away from those stupid quick connect sob's.

if you get a chance, will you take pictures of the quick connect heater hoses? i have no clue what youre talking about, but if its important enough to be handled i'd like to look at what i have.

I'll get some pics today. They just seem to always leak and arent reliable (simple) enough for my likes. If one springs a leak in the middle of nowhere, your boned. If you have normal heater hoses, you can likely make do somehow.

This is what the fittings look like. ONe in the water pump and one in the intake near the distributor. They need to be swapped for normal barbed fittings.

And this is what the hoses look like. the ends just snap into place in the fitings and are o-ring sealed. Sounds like a good idea until they start corroding and leaking.

Ok, here is the one coming out of the pump,

20130124_110442.jpg

It goes up and over the ac compressor to this bracket and then goes into a soft line.

20130124_110454.jpg

And this is the one at the back of the intake. As you can see, it appears to be leaking already...

20130124_110504.jpg

It goes over to this bracket before going into the soft line.

The heater inlet is just normal hose clamp style. I plan on getting larger ruber lined hose "mounts" to replace the ones that mount the hard lines now to keep the hoses properly routed. I just need the barbed fittings. We talked about this here once upon a time, but i need to do some searching to remember what sizes i need.

ok perfect.
you summed it up perfectly and i know that i do in fact have those so now i know to keep an eye on it.

:waytogo:

I have just never liked the design so im doing away with them.

So today i got all the goodies i said i was going to get. Still working on finishing up the dang house work, but i should able to start working on this a little more starting next week. I'll register it when i get paid again in two weeks and start driving it. Hope to have everything done that i had immediately planned on doing by then. Time will tell.

Lots of people havent. Lots of people have. For me, the minimal time/money investment for the piece of mind is worth it! And makes heater hose replacement in the future a lot easier and cheaper.
