Ok was wondering if anyone else has had this problem if so could help me on it.. I have a 1997 k1500 extend cab 3 door... here is a picture of it

the problem i have is when i let it sit for weeks and it rains a day or 2 i get water accumulated on my FLOORMAT on the passangers side. and under the plastic sill thing you step over to get into the truck on the floor.. anyone else have these problems with water getting in their rigs? and where might it be comming from? its a couple of cups of water.. ever since i noticed this i have had a 2x4 under my caper and all them plastic kick panels and trim removed from both sides of the truck... its only doing it on the passanger side for some reason.

I inspected the door weatherstripping and it seems to be in really good shape.

thanks

Ray

The heater core is right above that location, it is probably leaking or broken. Its behind and below the glove box.

If it's not coolant from the heater core then your windshield may be leaking, not a whole lot else that can leak water in.

no

fresh water not coolant.. i have found another website and allot of the 1988 tell the new 2007 chevy / gmc trucks and suv people are experiancing it.. from what they say its a screw that gets taken out and not put back in when they change the windshield.. hehe and some other theorys but this is the most common remedy

i have seen tons of 88-up glue in style windows go bad. the factory did a crapy job of glue. its the middle to pass side on the top. basicly you need to remove window and start over. but 50% of the time its better to get new window as the old one breaks goming out.

2 of mine did it. when the glass man was running his knife around the glue he said here we go. and sure thing giant non glued spot. my 96 needs it done soon. :(

actualy sucks. as new stuff isnt cheep.

Its funny you bring this up...on our way out to Texas from Cali we went through a couple big storms with TONS of water...more than we can even dream of back in Cali and all of a sudden my feet started to get wet and I noticed water dripping in from under the dash. I don't know where it was getting in but its accumulating on the bottom of the air box and then dripping on the floor mat...

I'll have to look into it...

Avery, your problem might be the A/C condensation leaking.

Ray, I would also vote for the windshield, but also, do you have roof marker lights? I have noticed mine have been loose and started to leak. Looks like the water can run across the headliner, down the inside of the A Pillar to the floor. Not likely your issue, but could be.

Thats an idea but it only did it when we went through huge storms...

i dont drive the truck.. its getting in through the screw hole with out the scre in it in the cowel.. i sealed it up.. only leaks when sitting in rain for long periods.. drips out of heater box onto floormat.. other guys say in very heavy rain while driving it does it too.. but the solution is to remove black plastic cowel and silicone the screws that fasten it and the screws that go into the cab from that area as when your windshield gets replaced the glass man usually leave the one out..

no marker lights or any holes in roof

look at your windshield at different angles. Bet the passenger side upper corner is leaking.

My Dad that had an 88 that did it, Mom had a 94 that did it, and I have a 97 that does it. Mom's was the worst leaker. Mine you can just see the trail down the windshield once in a while. Never really wet. Regluing the windshield fixed it in Mom's case. Hers was warranty back in the day.
