I want to take off my pintle hitch and put on a two inch receiver. Does anyone make this? Should I get one welded up? Can I replace the whole section of plate on my stock Cucv bumper where it mounts?

M1009, or one of the pickemups?

The '09's just put the pintle in place of the stock license plate holder ... five minutes at the Pick N Pull solved that, and mounted a regular receiver hitch to the frame.

Donno about the 1008's/etc, haven't owned one. Assuming it's at the bumper level, I'd unbolt whatever you can and get a real frame-mounted receiver.

It's the blazer. So yes the hitch is in the license Plate area of the bumper in the bolted in middle section.

Thanks for the tip I will look into the stock license plate bracket.

I only tow a small utility trailer with a couple canoes or maybe some parts. A heavy duty frame hitch isn't necessary. I do already have a ball on a hitch for the two inch receiver so I would like to use that size.

The regular frame receivers are relatively cheap and useful. I'd go that route.

Problem is the mounts for your rear D-rings are in the way of most. I had to fab up a custom receiver hitch on my M1008 in order to make mine work and keep the D ring mounts. If you don't want the D ring mounts just take them off and put a receiver hitch in. Strong, durable, and works.

Yeah, I definitely want to keep my D ring mounts. They are like my favorite part of the truck haha.

I seem to recall that the the Blazer receiver hitches generally attach to the *bottom* of the frame, as opposed to the side where the shackles attach.

Point being that I think a receiver hitch should just bolt up to your truck. I know that the one I put on my '09 didn't interfere with the shackle mounts... this is the only pic I could find (don't have the truck any more, sniff)

You can get a pintle hitch that accepts both pintle eyes and has a trailer ball for towing "regular" trailers from places like Northern Tool also...they are not exactly cheap, around 75 bucks..but that would bolt i place of your current one and lert you tow most anything ..

Thanks for the tip about the combo pintle and ball. That looks like the best route for me. Even though it's money it'll be bolt on and done.

I noticed the chevelle isn't listed in your signature?

Yeah,I had that wagon from 1987 to 1995,I bought it from a friend who drove it home in stock form from St.Cloud FL,it had a 250 straight six and a powerglide ,and a radio delete panel in the dash!..he had a '69 Suburban K10 and it was getting too rotted for street use,one day when the wagon was parked next to it,a light went off in his head and he said "ya know,I have always liked the 4x4 El-Caminos guys put on 4x4 chassis--maybe I'll do that to the wagon!..

A few months later,it was all done, and his son was driving it all over the place--the guy was a long time body and frame man,so cutting the frame to get the wheelbase correct was childs play for him...he put chevy vega bumpers under the Chevelle's in order to meet NH height restrictions, and all the original body mounts on the wagon were retained and bolted to the chassis just as they did on the stock frame...

The car had a 4 bolt 350 from the Suburban that was very tired when I bought it--I swapped inm a 1973 454 from an Impala my older brother owned that was rotted out,it ran sweet, had a fresh valve job and a new Holley q-jet replacement sprread bore carb on it...I kept the TH350 in it,it had a Rockwell divorced T-case from the Suburban in it too..sounded like it had a blower with those whiney straight cut gears in it!..it got a lot of looks at car shows and when just putting around in it...I was tempted to put a plow setup on it,but decided against getting it salty!..
