UPDATE : painted pics of it out in the sun light :thumb:

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

time for a new project i guess. ya i have a few but this could be used a lot more and i am tired of my current dd vehicle as its not me.

so i happen to see this on local craigslist few weeks ago and then again the other day at lower price. figure what the heck go look at it.

85 2wd short bed. no motor / ? tranny condition / cab rusty bad on rockers & cab corners / box sides going bad in wheel arch's . but has replacement cab MUCH better shape and was loded cab power guts in doors bad is small fire took out heater box but can swap from old cab to replacement.

i need to get 2 new box sides as the floor and head panel are solid and then swap cab quickly and drop a decent driveline in this thing and run it.

should be easy and good dd use rig to play with. and since i am working at a body shop these days great prices on parts needed . and can paint when done also . thinking 2 tone blue almost like it has now with white in the middle for 2tone effect like doner cab has.

and for up here in the rust belt this is a decent project truck with solid decent frame also.

got the whole deal for $725 cash and he will drop the cab off to me also in the deal. going to flat tow the truck 1 mile up the road to my buddys shop i work at . so the deal was better as it was all close to work/home. :D

last pic is the end look I am after basicly for paint

2005 buick Montana mid/rear seat's

Sweet deal!

Thoughs look like the headers I have laying around that I am debating putting on too.

At least the doors were not cut for speakers! :doah:

Very nice. While you have that cab already off you should get it blasted underneath and undercoated so it lasts a while longer! What you thinkin for a drivetrain? Something decent on gas?

few pics from this afternoon.

thinking 355 roller motor i got all done or 454 . but not sure but i think 4l80-e tranny so i get od and then not ever worrie about to light a tranny. :D but in the end 454 with 4l80-e would be good fun.

Oh man lol. Id put the 355 in and tune it for milage but the 454 would be fun. :waytogo:

did little after hr's work on it tonight.

got whole front clip off and cab bolts ready to cut off as thay are spinning in the body . :doah:

new replacement cab is at shop and ready for gut and swap of parts from old cab. then we set it on the frame.

frame looks good might send it down quick to the blaster guy and have him blast it up and give fresh coat of chassie paint black if down this far.

i am thinking 355 since its done and basicly ready to go in. nothin big in the motor just stock lt1 roller cam and lifters and t-chain set all this for little more power and free hp.

Sweet find! Should be a great daily driver in the summer around here. Overdrive tranny will be great too!

...so how long is that 10 bolt going to last in it?

well few hr's today and got doner cab gutted from small fire damage it had.

going to clean / prep / and paint-seal he bad area's inside/out to seal them up good. realy only got wiring a bit and paint with seam sealer in the small area around dist position for motor.

dont let anyone tell you a 2wd cant crack the frame @ the steering box . :doah:

and also must have been in small fender bender @ 1 time as its cot crack in the frame next to suspension mount infront of left motor mount.

guess i will have to bust out the welder and tape measure .

cable throttle also and about 100k miles give or take.

got to redo tranny or get 2wd tranny as it was from 4wd.

but $600 bucks for all that to start with why the heck not these days.

and after reading this mabye we play a little down the road. . .

4.8 should be perfect! Good on gas and still enough BALLLZZZZZ :thumb:

well 4.8 unit i had turned out to be a bad not as good a deal as i had planed.

so i call this morning and got a full pull out unit from good quality local yard . 5.3 from 03 yukon with 2wd tranny from truck . motor 80k tranny 90k and everything i need for swap from donor vehicle . even gas pedal and brain for it. delivered with state tax 2k bucks.

come from a clean southern below rust belt line vehicle also.

cant wait till mid of week tusday or wensday dirty dingo mounts and parts arive . then thursday motor/tranny show up.

been doin my reading up on few good sites and should be easy wiring harrness mods . and with electric pedal its stupid easy for cruise control hook up also from what i have read.

 goodys showed up today :thumb:

03 80k miles 5.3 nice n clean pull. got all parts needed and even gas pedal with little brain box . this will make cruise control hook up easy .

and 90k miles 4l60e 2wd with complete drive shaft for parts to make new for my build.

took and labled all plugs and removed harnness from motor before i left work today. hope to modify this weekend for renstall.

motor complete delivered cost me about $1200 bucks and tranny was $800 drive shaft was $50 bucks.
