20 year old axle U Joints

i beat mine out with a hammer and socket.try spaying penetrating fluid of some sort for a couple of days.maybe itll loosen up.you can try heat but it may weaken the shaft if you heat it too much

Cut the ears off of the u joint, then try and beat them out.

Cut so that only the cap and as little joint is left in each ear of the shaft.

I cheat and pay my local driveline shop $15 to do it for me. :dunno: Seems like a better deal than wasting hours of my time and frustration doing it myself.

thats how i used to do them, just take a cut off wheel and cut the ujoint out then you only have one cap at a time to press out.

I took mine over to the auto hobby shop when I was in Illinois. The pressure gauge hit almost 4000PSI before they broke loose. The employees there just walked out of the room....

I got one from HF and its too small. At least it was cheap.:(

Did you get the grey one? Looks like a c-clamp with a hole in the end. Chuck it up, put a couple spins on it and BANG it comes out. They always worked great for me:dunno: Even on trucks that spent their life in OH, and my Jimmy that was driven on NC beaches.

I didn't think of that at first. I was using it on 10B and D44s.
