2000 Chevy k2500 crew cab

I bought this truck a year ago to replace my identical 99 that was totaled.
Found a soft spot in my frame this evening while replacing my passenger side cab shaft. I patched it with some 1/8 tread-plate. I gave the rest of my frame the 2lb hammer “test” and haven’t found anymore serious rot.

Still got the old truck....?
Sounds like it's time for a 7.4 swap

I do, and I even have an entire vortec 7.4 to swap in, but the 5.7 is running good again. I’ll let that fully die before swapping.

Put the 7.4 in, and build that 5.7 into a full roller 383 for the baby blue burb peaking out of the corner of that pic :thumb:

Wanted a truck just like it for a long time.
99/2000 ccsb 2500, 7.4. in 5 speed version if I could find it.

You'll be waiting a while lol. Those vortec 5.7's have a tendency to last a while.
It does all I need it to do, so I won’t be complaining if I never have to change it!

That things in the same boat; it has a great running tbi 5.7 with no signs of issues. However I do have an 89’ V2500 suburban that may get the 7.4 one of these days

I have been putting tons of miles on this lately. Scrap is at a great price right now so I have been hauling in several tons with it weekly. It’s due for an oil change, and I am sick of the leaky oil cooler lines. I am hoping this adapter and a pf454 filter solve that issue for me.

What started as fixing an annoying exhaust leak has turned into a lot more. I noticed under the gooseneck hitch and around the receiver some pretty nasty rot. The spring hangers, crossmember, and shock mounts have also seen better days. I beefed up the thin areas and built a new crossmember. I ordered new leafs and all spring mounts. While the box is off I am also doing cab corners and rockers.
