This truck hasn’t had a horn since I bought it back from my brother. So today I grabbed some horns off of a Buick Roadmaster. I never knew they had 4 notes. Explains why they are so loud.

Those holes in the top flange of the c notch are a really bad idea. The top and bottom flanges are your primary load path in your frame. A c notch is bad enough structure but those holes are a big issue. I would reroute those wires and cap the holes.

If I pull a part from a car, that means it was totaled. Terrible idea.
That top piece is a solid rectangle tube, then the upside down “U” shape on the side is a plate that is welded all the way around. This was done years ago, and since then the truck has hauled a lot, including a pallet of sod. It’s fine.

    Details, details.

Being an un-wagon makes it distinctly un-cool.

I think we had this same conversation about spacing down the transmission crossmember in your Jimmy. :deal:

I would be so rich if every time I tried to give structural advice and was met with the "it's fine " I would say just give me $10 when it fails.
    Because it will fail.

So the front end rebuild has started. RH front wheel bearing was howling like crazy. I’ll post that video in a little bit. Got the controls arms off to see that the lower bushings are pretty toast. Uppers are dry cracked, but not terrible (I’ll still replace them). The shocks have a dead spot right at ride height, so I will be replacing them at the same time.

So the plan is replace bad bearing. New poly urethane bushings up front. New Belltech Nitro shocks. Then an alignment. Should be a whole new truck when I’m done.

Had a busy day yesterday. All finished up minus an alignment And sway bar bushings.

Ended up just doing new loaded control arms. Pressing the bushings out proved to be impossible for some reason.

Now that this truck is squared away for a little bit, I’m going to tear into the front suspension of the diesel and figure out the bushing/geometry issue with the front springs. Maybe throw a 4wd trans in it if it gets finished.

Pops got a smoking deal on some camper shells and tonneau covers. I happen to snag one from him.
