2001 3500-HD / 2002 3500-HD - NEW build with 2002 truck now .

8.1 bbc vortec / nv4500 / 4.63 rear 1.5ton truck was a 12ft flatbed dump now 10ft flatbed dump .
2001 c3500-HD 1.5ton .
8.1 vortec / nv4500 with parking brake on tail .
dana 80 rear factory with disk brakes and 4.63 rear gear. 225/70/19.5 tire size stock.
12ft long flatbed and it dumps. she is rusted up BAD and i think it was a swap over from a older truck .

plan is fix small exhaust leak and de-grease the engine bay . swap on a new flatbed i found thats basically brand new . 2 new steering tread tires up front and 4 new drives on the rear . blast and clean the rims .

she needs a little body work on the cab corners and tiny bit on the rockers . the doors need looked over and patched in or just clean units swapped on for there rust .

she drives tight in the front end . lots of power . and rides MUCH better than my stock suspension k30 does :yikes:

got a new set of dump hinges ordered for the flatbed swap out . the ones in there have some egged out holes so figure time for new .

called local tire shop and its about 30.00 each wheel for steel shot blast and powder coat my choice of color on the rims . so when i do new tires and rims there getting cleaned and painted . thinking a grey is as close to stock as i need to go . there silver is more powder coat chrome than silver . so i picked the grey to be same .

read the codes for the check engine light and got p0704 clutch switch / p1518 tac mod problem / p1125 gas pedal problem / p0154 b2s1 o2 sensor problem . need to look in to these . the o2 i think is the source of my leak i here up frontish . @ZooMad75 @Larry

So I just blew up your DM inbox with the diagnostic charts for all the codes you have. That should get you moving down the path to diagnosing them.

She is up on 4 jack stands in front of the shop . I pulled the 6 tires & wheels off and the spare off the bed . I pulled the weights and cores to air down .

Dropping the wheels off in the am to get steel shot blasted and powder coated grey . Then when there done grab them and 6 tires and 1 used for a spare and mount them up .

Got my new dump/flatbed hinges yesterday for when i swap the new bed on .

Drug this 95% rust free doner truck home today for the 3500hd truck . .

This one hit a MEGA solid object and folded the frame up .

Its a 95% of its life north carolina truck and shows it 100%

Going to use doors / seats / other parts . Then sell the rest off and make money .

Getting ready to do the brakes . Front has almost brand new rotors and pads . I am swapping the pads for wagner SEVERE DUTY truck / tow / fleet pads .

The rear was a different story tho . . . Frozen calipers on the brackets . Almost frozen pistons and rotors 95% solid rust . Right side i could see between the pad and rotor face before i pulled it apart . . And i had to use a air hammer to drive out the wedges .

Got 2 new rotors / pad set / calipers / wheel seals even did hoses as the metal parts were rusted bad and i didnt want to play with them .

You can get dual piston calipers for a 3500 HD pretty cheap.

so reading up over on gmt400.com i have found some cool info on the 95 and up interior stuff . . .

looks like i will be getting cruise control and tilt when in my 3500-HD easy from the doner 95 truck steering column .

the dash frame / pad unit is not bad at all to swap with a full write up over there . guy said first time he did it was 3hr's for him . i need to swap the 01 dash over as the 95 dash is cracked up and beat up . . . plus non airbag :deal: and the 95's 1 airbag blew off so a wheel swap is in order but easy to do .

looking more and more i will be doing a body swap for the cab & front clip to kill the rust problem the fastest way and keep it more simpleish :zombie11: and if it works i will get a bonus of ............... A/C in the truck :waytogo:

Got the brake brackets cleaned up on the slide surfaces . Then blasted and painted the hubs to remove the rust on the rim hub center section . The last thing i did was blast and paint my nuts :zombie11:

Fedex shows Tuesday for my 2 sets of pads and hoses and seals so i can get her back together .

2wd . . . No need for this one to go 4wd . But if i was to go 4wd i would prob just use ford f-450 / f-550 axles as we have a local ford only yard with lots of stuff at good prices .
