How do I go about cleaning this? It has an electrical connection and is held down by two bolts. Was thinking of removing and just blasting it with some carb cleaner.

My truck seems to be a little low on power, gets ~220 miles per tank instead of ~275k+, pings under load, and stinks a little. Has 141,000 miles

The injector spider was replaced with updated one at 80k. Trans at 127k. Plugs, cap, rotor, wires at 75k and again at 125k. O2 sensors at 85k. Pre-cat removed looong ago. Today I cleaned the MAF. I've ran SeaFoam through it before changing the O2 sensors and again not long ago. I'm hoping it's not the CAT yet, since it passed smog last July.

:dunno:

yes there are two hold down bolts and one connector. they can get clogged is the cel on? with everything that has been done cleaning the egr won't be a bad idea i would go the an auto parts store and pick up a gasket first. they do have one now that has a screen in the center to keep carbon out of the valve get on. As for the pinging what gas are you running and how long has this been going on?

It's been pinging forever. I run 87 mostly, but it will ping with 91 also. When I know I'm about to haul stuff (like my C10's engine and trans recently) I'll throw in some 91. It will ping easily with the AC on and getting onto the freeway, otherwise it only does it at WOT and heavy throttle with a load. And no, it's completely stock.

Probably not the egr then. It only functions at lower rpms and light throttle load. Do you have access to scan engine data as it runs to see what the 02 sensors are doing and watch fuel trims?

i've herd bad things about sea foam.. i like to use Chem tool for my trucks... for electric connectors it's a good idea to use that electric cleaner they sell at the auto parts store. I have used it to clean the mass air flow sensor on my s-10
