Honestly, if you want to blame anybody for new car designs, blame the buying public. There is some degree of freedom in guessing/pushing things on consumers, but more weight in what people ARE buying, market surveys, etc. The average guy financing $55k on a new pickup wants it to be fancier, more high tech and better "specs" than whatever his old truck had and whatever people he knows has. Dodge has proven that ugly sells by polarizing the buyers. Off-road ability isn't a factor. Even post-warranty durability isn't really considered - with each new redesign nobody really knows anyway and many new buyers will into something else in 4-5 years.
