what year model make trucks did the 32 pline 203 come in i cant find the info and its really pi$$in me off. thank you much!!!!

okay new question. what is stronger 10 spline or 27 spline i kinda dont know because the 10 spline has a bigger o/d but has less splines. the reason im asking is because im considering having new output shafts made for the output on my 465 and the intermediate between my 203 and 205

All TH400/203 combos were 32 spline and were used in the mid to late 70's I believe.

AFAIK that's the only place to find 32 spline 203's.

So get a short 465 32 spline output shaft from ORD and a 400 input for your 203.It dont get any stronger than that. And if you have an ORD doubler your 203 output and 205 input should be 32 spline already :D

...and I dont think that 465 shaft is on their site. You will have to get ahold of Steve and ask if he has them in stock.

I got lucky when I ordered mine.He only has them made in small batches and happen to have one when I called :D

ttt

i know you can give me a strait answer 38377k5

Haha, I wasn't really holding out on you ;)

The splines are cut deeper on the 10 spline shaft, right? What's the OD of each shaft at the bottom of the splines? Whichever one is bigger in that dimension is stronger.

You're probably not going to strip the splines on either one so I wouldn't shy away from the 10 spline shaft for that reason.

The only bad thing about the 10 spline setup is that after a couple hundred thousand miles they tend to wear and get sloppy, which can cause noise and make it harder to seal.

the outside diameter of the 27 spline is the same size at the inside diameter of the 10 spline and yea the main reason im trying to do this is because the 10 spline on my 465 output is shot to say the least

So the 10 spline is probably a little stronger.

So what's the overall problem here? Sounds like you're setting up a 465/203/205 which can be a pain.

IMO, the best way to go is to find a 465/208 setup (which is 32 spline), ditch the 208, mate a 32 spline 203 to it and drill/tap the round pattern into the 203.

how much did ord screw ya for cus i can get a 32 spline threw 10 spline made by a local machining guy for 130:D i got dont gunna go junkyard hunting for that 32 spline 203 ive already got a 27 spline 203

yea but i cant really do that because it a blazer frame so that would make my driveshaft shorter than it already is. but im doing it all with my own stuff so it can be as easy or as hard as i want it cus i made the bracket that gos from the 465 to the 203 and the one from the 203 to the s205 and now im trying to figure out what splines to use so i can send my stuff out to get cut

are you planning on making that 27 spline 203 you already have into a 32 spline 203 cause if you are, you need the whole 32 spline range box, not just the input, input bearing sizes are different.

no i was planning on using the 27 spline range box if i can but if im gunna break stuff then ill go searching

I bought an ORd shaft also so I guess I got screwed too. :surepal:

Glad to see you can get a local guy to make it super cheap. Be sure he's including stretching the 10 spline shaft for that price too.

im having a 35 spline 2wd drive one turned down its already that long i could be mistaken but im pretty sure thats what ord does too. will sombody please enlighten me on how much ord's shafts are????:(

btw im not trying to say people that buy from ord are all getting screwed i just dont think they should be charging as much for stuff when their are4 other companies (diy4x) that make better stuff (some stuff) and charge less.so no offense

If ORD is reworking a 35 spline they must be starting with new parts (which would explain some of the cost), the shaft I got was without a doubt brand new. Worth the $$, imo.

over head in a biss can drive up prices.

if you dont like them go someplace else.

and please dont bash to loud around here like that. thay have good service and parts.

and is your local guy heat treating the item? if not i bet it might wear out 10x faster or worse blow up first hard use.

i have seen some cut aways of heat treated stuff and found the core or center is not hardened like the out side wear the big wear section is.

might want to do a bit more research first before you get that cheep 130 part. and man at 130 he sounds like he might be out of biss soon thats super cheep or he ows you a big favor.

So where is this 35 spline shaft coming from because GM doesn't have ANY trans with a 35 spline that i'm aware of?
