Anyone familiar with the 208 shifter workings? I can't remember the shift pattern, but the 205 is 4lo, n, 2hi, 4hi. (top to bottom)

Barring the indicators perhaps being off, anyone think it could be made to work with the 205? I know the 208 has a "jog" to the right when shifting the t-case, but since the 205 is just straight in and out, I would imagine a pivoting link on the end of the 208 shifter might just hook up to the 205.

Of course shifter travel could be much different, making it pretty difficult, but I thought it might be nice to use the 208 shifter (which is stock for my truck) with the 205.

If you can't tell, I *really* hate cutting holes in my truck. : )

Why insist on counting when the ring gear has the tooth counts stamped in?

I had a 208 in my Jimmy, then swapped to a 205. I used the original hole in the tranny tunnel and stuck a shifter boot on it. No cutting and it looks stock. My 205 shifter fits perfectly in the center of the hole...
