I' looking for a shifter for my 208. I swapped the 700r4/208 from an 87 Suburan and aparantly, the tranny hump is taller on the sub. The base of the shifter touches the tranny and the linkage is too long. I'm not sure is they even came shorter as the 78 was never equiped with this combo. I would also need pics and shipping to Miami, Florida 33175

Thanks - Alex

Do you have a removable tunnel cover?
Mine, an 85 doesn't, it's just all one piece and it's lower.

sorry i took so long to reply. The trans tunnel is not removable on my rig. The cab is a new style cab with the old style front clip. So there should have been some truck those years with the 700 stock.

1-tonmudder; send me some pics of the shifter and tunnel. I was actually thinking of creating one for easy access.

Was your cab from a 2wd? The mid 80's suburbans had the short welded trans tunnels as well, but from what I understand the 2wd trucks had an even shorter tranny tunnel.

Yeah, I'm a dumb ass. i forgot to mention that it was a 2wd cab. I had to take out the hacksaw to make room for the 203 shifter and finally the 208 shifter. Thats probably why the shifter assebly touches the top of the tranny and the bottom of the linkage is way too low. So I guess my next question should be; is anybody selling a tranny tunnel for the k10 pickup with the 700r4 and 208?

With the 2wd cab you will have to cut out the complete tranny tunnel and weld in one from a 4x4 cab I believe.

I would like to avoid welding if possible. It would be cool if i could remove the tunnel when needed. I don't have carpet anyways.
