on the crapper...
I just got a 241 with a previously installed SYE from JB Conversions. The end play on the rear output is a good 1/4" - in other words I can move it in and out 1/4" by hand - in all "gears". That seems high. The rear yoke is off - I don't know if that makes a difference. Anybody know if that is normal? I am about to install it, and just want to make sure it won't need to come back out. BTW, I did call JB Conversions, they are shut down 'till 10/5 so they can go play on the rocks somewhere. :dunno:

I don't know if it's normal but mine does it. Don't know if it's related but it leaked pretty bad at one point and I had to take the yoke back off and coat the splines, star washer and everything in that area with silicone to stop it. JB is a good kit but by no means perfect.

I think the yoke tightens down against the bearing and takes the end play out. It has been a while since I put my SYE in, but I don't remember any end play.

The shaft will move in/out if the yoke isn't tightened down. The yoke tightens against the bearing and eliminates end play.
