3/4 ton conversions having its issues

yeah the 15's
I am soon.
My nextdoor neighbor is a cop (although he's swat and not a traffic cop) and i invited him over for a viewing. He said if i put mudflaps on the rear tires i should be ok. The 15's were for my backup plan so it looks like my 18's will work.

I have a set of 16.5x14 barts that i was gonna mount on the 15's, but i'll just hold off for a bit. I'll prolly sell them after xmas/new year.

I just wanna hang on for a bit longer to be sure the 18's will work.

do you have pics of the 15's? I'm very interested, how soon ya want that 12 bolt out of there?

i'll shoot a pic tommorow of them.
I would love to get it out now, but ohnestly i've had no response on C/L.
Theres about 50 of them to choose from, but this is the only one i've seen with gears bigger than 4.10 so i'm surprised i've had no response.
I think you can wait a bit, cause so far there not beating down my door for it.

Man - your rig is farking awesome Jim!

So are you driving it to work this week?
I came so close to driving it this morning but the 2 lugnuts per wheel scared me just a bit. The snow flurries this morning also made me think it wasn't a good day to do any testing.

Thanks for all the reviews guys. I had a lot of fun doing it, but now i'm kinda bored........what to do next?

Umm... get some lug nuts & drive that pig to work!
As seen in my garage post i have no brakes. And i mean none. I'm pretty convinced its the master cylinder so i bought a new one tonight. I also picked up 2 more calipers. I sold a front grill so i had a few extra $$$$$. funny part was it cost more for cores than it did for parts.

So - for the record - how much were the loaded calipers?
well that depends on how you describe loaded. I was surprised, these calipers had everything including mounting hardware, and vibration springs for the pads. The only thing that was missing was the pads themselves.......ready for this. $18 each lifetime warranty.

Master cylinder was $24 lifetime warranty.

Of coarse both were remans, but what do i care.

So i spent $60 but it cost me $124 to get out the door until i get my cores back.

I love old chevy's :D

Hmmm, the master and booster I put on the 70 K5 is awful looking inside and out, maybe I should just pick up a new master cylinder at a price like that. I've never replaced a master - what is involved?

The booster was different. I had to replace mine just b4 i did the 3/4 conversion and it was like $90 for a reman + core. I'm pretty sure those cost alot more.

new update

My old 6" superlifts and 1.5" 0 rates were cause interferace with my new cross steer, so today i reaplced the front lift with a new set of 8" skyjacker softrides. Of coarse the truck went up another 1/2" in the front so i have a saggy but again.

That is kinda how i got so high in the first place. I kept adding lift to front and rear till i got it level. Sheesh........ I'll have 53" tires under this thing by the time i get it level again. :D

When i got it, it had 8" total lift, took it to 10.5" to get it level, so if i have another issue like that i'll be around 13".........no way....honestly its already to high.

In another thread you said you can't bring yourself to taking it off road.
So is your beautiful Green Machine only going to see mall curbs, or are you going to do AT LEAST some local fire roads.

You got a serious, very functional set up that will take you through 75% of most trails in this country! Not to mention when I come visit, (depending on the weather) we got to do at least a little trail ride :D !

CDA455: for the most part it will be a pavement pounder, however i will take it off road. It was actually built with sandlake in mind. That is the semi local sand dune. It should be an animal in the sand.

VTBlazer: I still have some bugs that i need to work out. I need to get the tires balanced, but i cant get it over 30 mph or its a butt massager. I need a calm day with no traffic so i can limp it to the 4x4 shop and have them put the liquid in the tires. They are too wide for a mechanical balancer.
My other issue is my brakes are only working about 25%. I haven't quite figured this out yet. but it has very bad brakes. I have a hydroboost for it and my convert that direction.
