so i ended up getting 4.56, 3/4 ton eaton/d44 axles from supposedly a '69 chevy truck. i have a 77 k5 12bolt/d44. anyone know if this is a bolt in swap? i've read quite a bit on it and not sure i really want to do it. but i got 3.08 gears and gotta do something soon

rear spring perches and shock mounts.

front do a knuckle out swap with your newer disk brake stuff and swap in the better newer style bigger u-joint shafts . then bolt it up in and go.

edit : if thats a closed knuckle dana 44 front i wouldnt waste my time personaly.

thanks, it's an open knuckle dana but i think i'll let the eaton go, rather just have 3/4 14 that i can bolt in. parts, lockers, everything is just out there.

eaton rear wont have a problem sellin.

around 1/2 of them got detroit in them from factory also

better ground clearence than 14ff .

and detroit and shafts from 14ff swap in to it from what i have read in the past. just stuck with the gears tho. nothin realy out there.

and brake parts from 14ff swap over also.

I have an Eaton thats still in a '62 GMC 3/4 ton chassis, that was made into a trailer--2wd with coil springs,4.56 gears and full floating hubs...was wondering if its worth keeping to sell if I scrap the frame..(actually the frame is pretty nice shape, hate to scrap it,beter than whats on my '82 in a way!)....are they worth anything??..

yeah i really liked the clearance, overall a good looking axle. no detroit tho. maybe i'll set it in the garage till i figure out what i really want to do.
