We did these a bit different than most you'll find out there. The back side is long enough to go all the way through 1/4" thick steel so you can easily weld the backside of the bung and double the weld surface. Works equally well on anything thinner than 1/4". With the right techniques you could make the inner weld on 3/8" thick steel.
