Which is the way to go? This is for my brother's 88 k-5 with d60/d70. He wants to link the rear and we are wondering which is better? We were thinking that a 3-link with wishbone upper would be the easiest route :dunno:

Its hard to get close to 0 degrees of roll steer with a wishbone suspension.

Plus its really hard on the single upper joint at the axle. We saw a guy during EJS that had broken the 1.25" rod on his wishbone suspension.

I chose a 4 link.

Elaborate on roll steer? Depending on where you put your links the rear axle will steer itself as the axle flexes. There's a good picture of it on this site (~2/3 down).

There's a lot more to 4 link design than just that (roll center, anti-squat, etc.). Here's a link to the commonly used calculator that shows how moving the mounts around changes the parameters of the suspension.

Yes, sorry I should have said what i needed more info on. But you have provided two very good articles. Looks like I have alot of reading to do! Thanks Chris

I forgot about this one, its a good article describing how to design a 4 link.

Its much easier to use the calculator than to draw it by hand like the article says but it will help with the concepts.
