Re: 35\" tires = what size on this site?

The URL you posted is only good for your computer, not ours ... but I betcha I know the answer.

You're looking at numbers like 265/75-16, right? (Prolly bigger #'s if you're thinking of 35" tires.)

Short answer is the first number is indeed metric, the tread width in millimeters. The third number is the wheel diameter (in inches)... and the middle number is a ratio (percentage) between the sidewalls and the tread depth.

If this was what you were looking at, there are lots of tire size calculators on the web, or I can give you a formula if you like.

If instead you were looking at weird military designations for really huge tires, this is not helpful.

Re: 35\" tires = what size on this site?

Whatever the site is I cant get it to come up. Judging by your question, I have a general idea where your going.

I cant tell you what size it is but chances are the tire was listed along the lines of LT285/85/16. This is just a # I pulled out of the air. LT is light truck, (P is passenger car) 285 is how wide the tread is in millimeters, 85 is the aspect ratio, the side wall of the tire is 85% as tall as the tread is wide, (the lower this # is the lower the profile. For example a 60 would be much shorter) and 16 is the rim.

IIRC a 35x12 is like a 315/85. My dad had 275/85/15 Buckshots on his old truck. (Buckshots are skinny Monster Mudders) They were about 33 inches tall.

I dont know if I helped or not but I tried. Try listing the sidewall info in the post and maybe someone can help.

Also some useless info is 25 mm is right at one inch. So a 255 is about 10 inches wide.

Try 4lo.com. I think they have a tire calculator. I forgot that when I made my post.

The stupid thing about the p-metric sizing is that there is no single size equivalent to a 35" tire ;-)

35" by what, on what size rim? I.e. 35x15.50 and a 15" rim? 35x12.5 on a 16", or ...?

Re: 35\" tires = what size on this site?

what you are claiming is 'tread width' is actually 'section width'
and the 35"/12.5 tires are almost never 35" so there is no rhyme nor reason to tire sizing much like womens clothing sizing
go look at a 40" hawg, gotta be about 36"

Re: 35\" tires = what size on this site?

I found it, and I entered 295/85R16 and that said the tire would be around 35.7" ... I tried searching on tire rack along with other sites, using measurements near those #'s and still couldnt get anything to pop up. Just tryin to find a good buy on new tires instead of going right to goodyear and buying the "showroom \$\$\$" price. Thanks for your help tho guys

Section width, yeah, that's what I said.

See why I loath p-metric sizing? ;-)

Re: 35\" tires = what size on this site?

hey nightrider, if you are looking for a 35" in a metric size it will be a 315/75/16. here are the other corresponding sizes
LT315/75/16 = 35X12.50X16 LT265/75/16 = 31.5X10.00X16
LT305/70/16 = 33X12.50X16 LT295/75/16 = 33.5X10.00X16
LT285/75/16 = 33X12.00X16 LT235/75/16 = 31X8.50X16
LT245/75/16 = 30X9.00X16 LT235/75/15 = 29X8.50X15
Hope the #'s help out all of you out there.
